Lake Merced with Stephanie

Ran 3 minutes walked 1 minute per Stephanie’s schedule.

I needed an easy run…I’ve been much too tired, crampy, and edgy lately.

Sawyer Camp Trail

I can’t believe it!  7:30/mile pace.  That just doesn’t seem right.  Are you guys sure this calculates average pace correctly?

I ran the first 4 miles at 37:47:36 and kicked it up a notch on the way back.  It started off great.  I tried not to head out too fast.  I was at a steady 10 minute per mile pace for the first mile and a half.  Then, I broke away from DK and ran at a comfortable steady pace to mile 4.  When I turned around, I wanted to keep up my comfortable pace and start to play with speeding it up a bit.  I was following these 2 girls (they were a bit ahead of me and knew nothing about my stalking:).  I kept them in sight for about 2.5 miles and then the shot off to finish at a much faster pace than I was willing to match.

I finished with an elevated heart rate.  It was tough, but I’m so glad that I pushed through.  I’m very proud of myself.  I just don’t want this to be my best run.  I’d like to save that for the race:)

Treadmill

Ran on the treadmill in Reno.  Started at 2 incline, but it felt really tough, so I brought it down to 1.  It was a hard, hard run, so I did it nice and easy.

Presidio Run

Got lost a few times as I ran the 6 mile route from the Nike SF Run team.  Didn’t run with them. I just tried to follow the map from their website.  It was a nice run.  I explored a few new views of the city that I had never seen before.

I felt great.  I’m still feeling great today (a day later!)

Lake Merced

DK flaked on me this morning (no hard feelings, DK:), so I went out to Lake Merced alone.  I had on my new running shoes and if felt amazing to run!  I started off the first 20 minutes or so at a pretty good pace, but focused on my breathing.  I knew that is what would carry me through the whole run.  I usually chicken out and walk a bit when the going gets tough, but not this morning!  I had my new running shoes on and they gave me the mental push I needed to stay the course.  The first time I looked at my watch I had run 24 minutes.  Half way there!  I then started mental mind games, like “run around this bend”, then “just get to the traffic light”, etc.  It always helps me to break the run into smaller runs to get through the mental stuff in my brain.  The other thing I did often was return to my breathing.  When I started to feel a bit tired, I would focus on breathing in and breathing out while keeping a strong stride and pace.  It worked.  I was so proud of myself.

Now, I just have to remember this and attack my training during the week!  Only 7 weeks to the Nike 1/2 marathon!
